The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in September 2022. We seek an expert in scientific computing with a strong record of research in the area of general relativity including gravitational wave astrophysics (theory, data analysis, or source modeling), computational relativity, or computational relativistic astrophysics. We seek candidates from any area that complements or diversifies the research strengths of UMass Dartmouth’s computational relativity and astrophysics research groups and our Center for Scientific Computing and Visualization Research (http://cscvr1.umassd.edu/groups.html), whose research groups include applied and computational mathematics, computational physics, computational fluid mechanics, and scientific machine learning. Successful candidates will become part of a world-class research group in the broad area of computational relativistic and gravitational astrophysics. The home department for this position will be determined in consultation with the successful candidate based on the candidate’s interests and best fit.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is located in the beautiful ocean side community of Dartmouth, about an hour south of Boston, half-hour east of Providence, and half-hour west of Cape Cod. Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program; teach and advise undergraduate and graduate (MS & PhD) students; contribute to university and professional service; foster interdisciplinary collaborations; and engage in college and university diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
