LECTURER, Physics

The Department of Physics (https://sciences.ucf.edu/physics/) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure earning lecturer position, anticipated to start in August 2022. This position is renewable annually, with the possibility of summer teaching assignments. We seek candidates to teach large-enrollment sections of introductory physics courses for majors, introductory physical science and astronomy courses for a variety of majors, as well as upper-division undergraduate courses in physics and astronomy. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching. Lecturers in the department typically teach three courses per semester in the fall and spring terms and have some service assignment. Lecturers are encouraged to pursue independent research. Research, curriculum development, and other activities can reduce the teaching assignment.

The Department of Physics has 52 full-time faculty members, offers B.S., B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, and is housed in a state-of-the-art research building. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution and previous teaching experience at the university level.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with online and blended instructional methods, digital teaching and learning tools, and active learning techniques is preferable.
