Overview
This position is part of the Office of Science – Headquarters, Department of Energy. A successful candidate will serve as a Physicist in the Office of High Energy Physics (HEP), within the Office of Science and will manage, coordinate and communicate activities relating to Cosmic Frontier experimental discovery science for the HEP program.
Duties:
This position is part of the Office of Science – Headquarters, Department of Energy. The Office of High Energy Physics is sponsoring a broad portfolio of exploratory searches for Dark Matter and other new cosmic phenomena via dedicated experiments and is seeking an individual capable of providing oversight of these research projects at universities and DOE national labs. As a Physicist, you will serve as a recognized scientific authority and expert in dark matter research or closely related fields in the high energy physics program.
As a Physicist, you will:
- Serve as a Program Manager overseeing a portfolio of high energy physics research activities, organizing independent peer reviews, recommending funding allocations, organizing meetings, serving as a liaison on committees, and monitoring project performance.
- Develop, recommend, and implement strategies, milestones, policies, and short- and long-range plans for the development, fabrication, and operation of high energy physics instrumentation and facilities and assesses the capabilities and priorities of proposed new ones.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following Basic Education Requirement:
A. Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics. Or
B. Combination of education and experience – courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
