Teaching Assistant Professor

Job Description: The Department of Physics at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a full-time (9-month, non-tenure track) Teaching Assistant Professor. The position’s primary duties will be to teach courses at the undergraduate level in physics. A successful candidate will demonstrate effective teaching in large lecture courses and smaller upper-level courses. The expected load per semester is three courses. Additional desired skills include experience in modern teaching techniques developed by physics education research and experience with assessment activities and curriculum mapping.

Part of the College of Science at the University of Nevada, Reno, the Department of Physics conducts high-level scientific research and offers respected degree programs at all levels. The curriculum is designed to provide students with up-to-date training in the foundational sciences, including a core of courses in the chemical and physical sciences and mathematics as well as a range of areas of specialties. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications (optional): Interest and training in the field of Physics Education or experimental physics research experience in an area complementing or augmenting the existing research in the department (astronomy, atmospheric, atomic, high energy density, materials, molecular, and plasma physics). Undergraduate lecture class teaching experience.
