Job Description

The Nuclear Theory Group at Ohio University anticipates hiring a post-doctoral research associate to take up a position starting in the Fall of 2023. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics (or anticipate having a Ph.D. in hand by September 2023). The research interests of the group include nuclear forces, nuclear and electromagnetic reactions in few-nucleon systems, connecting ab-initio structure calculations with few-body descriptions of reactions in light and medium mass-nuclei, and halo systems near the neutron and proton driplines.

We attack these problems using a variety of forefront methods including effective field theory, Bayesian uncertainty quantification, and Faddeev & multiple-scattering techniques. We expect the successful candidate to contribute to the efforts of the group as a whole. Thus, applicants should have a strong research record and display significant initiative to complement their research skills. The appointment will initially be for one year. Renewal for a second year is highly probable but is contingent on funding and job performance.

Questions about the position should be addressed to Prof. Daniel Phillips (phillid1@ohio.edu).

Qualifications

PhD in Physics (or anticipated by September 2023, or by negotiated start date); demonstrated research productivity.

Posting End Date.

12/12/2022
