General Description:

The Department of Physics at Pacific Lutheran University seeks a full-time, 9-month (September – May) Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to begin September 1, 2021 to teach introductory and intermediate physics courses and introductory labs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Teach introductory and intermediate physics courses and introductory labs, as assigned;
  • Hold weekly office hours;
  • Assume a level of professional leadership and visibility through service to the department and the university.

The successful applicant must have the demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to:

  • show promise as an innovative and effective classroom instructor;
  • design and implement effective student-focused teaching strategies;
  • teach students from diverse backgrounds, including women and members of underrepresented minority groups, in a university setting.

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Physics or related subdiscipline must be in hand by September 1, 2021 for appointment a t the Visiting Assistant Professor level. ABD is required by September 1, 2021 for appointment at the Instructor level.
